Music at Home

A few ideas from Director of Music Dr Tebbs to support musicians throughout the school in adapting to remote tuition.

It has been fantastic to see some inspirational work going on in remote instrumental and singing lessons over the last ten days, with music teachers and students adapting rapidly to the need for new technology, and doing their best to make music lessons a success despite the current challenges. With that in mind, the ABRSM has posted some new information and advice about music practice, with parents in mind, and this can be found at the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music

There are tons of other resources online to help with music skills, and most senior students will already have been emailed with details of some of these. Here are a few:

Musictheory.net for learning about theory

MyMusicTheory.com  quizzes for all grades for testing yourself

Noteflight is a good cloud-based music notation package  that lets you create, view, print and hear top quality music notation, and we also use LMMS, a fun digital audio workstation full of funky beats and quirky synth sounds which is available as a free open source platform.
