Senior School Admissions
A typical Senior School admissions journey will follow these steps:
- Initial enquiry
- Attendance at an Open Event
- Individual visit
- Registration
- Taster Day
- Entrance Exams
- Offer of a place
- Acceptance
- Induction Day
Our Senior School has two main entry points; at 11+ (Year 7) and 13+ (Year 9). Entry into other year groups is also possible dependent on availability. We also understand that family circumstances and work commitments do not always fit into the school year and, therefore, we will, where possible, accommodate applications for the Senior School throughout the year.
My daughter is absolutely loving St Gabriel’s, I feel so lucky that she is there as it feels completely the right place for her to be.

Registration
The first step in applying for a place in the Senior School is to register your child by completing our registration form and paying a non-refundable registration fee of £100.00. The registration fee covers administration costs and is non-refundable. The registration form and registration fee should be returned to the Admissions Manager and, on receipt, your child will be placed on our register for entry to the Senior School.
Applications are considered in accordance with our Admissions Policy. Early registration is, therefore, advisable. Please note that registration does not commit you to the school, nor does it guarantee a place.
Entrance Exams
All pupils are required to sit our entrance examinations in the November prior to their year of entry. Depending on the availability of places within the school, our entrance examinations may be sat at a later date during the year.
Year 7: In October, pupils registered for entry to Year 7 are invited to our Candidates’ Day, which is designed to give them a flavour of life in the Senior School, prior to taking our entrance examinations in late October/early November.
Candidates will sit papers in English, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning. A short and informal interview with the Principal and Vice-Principal also forms part of the assessment process.
Year 9: Candidates will sit papers in English, Mathematics and Science. A short and informal interview with the Principal and Vice-Principal also forms part of the assessment process.
When the number of pupils applying for places exceeds the number of places available, candidates who have reached the required level in the entrance examinations will be allocated a place in accordance with our Admissions Policy.
Offer of a Place and Acceptance
Places in the Senior School are offered following a successful performance in the entrance examinations together with a satisfactory confidential progress report offered by the Head of the pupil's current school.
An acceptance form and our Terms & Conditions are sent out with our offer of a place. The acceptance form should be signed by both parents and returned, along with the £500.00 refundable deposit, to the Admissions Office.
To encourage a smooth transition between schools, children joining the Senior School at the start of the academic year will be invited to two induction days at the end of the Summer Term.
Children joining the Senior School during the academic year are welcome to have a further taster day once they have accepted their place.
